Request for Board Action:
Agenda Text
The Board is requested to approve a resolution of support for the 2020 Census. The Census will shape how federal tax dollars are distributed over the next 10 years and will help decide if additional Congressional seats are allocated. This Census will feature new technologies, new methods and new processes to make the Census safe, easy and secure according to officials at the U. S. Census Bureau. During the March 12th Joint City County Committee meeting, staff from the City and County Internal Census Committee detailed early activities that are being developed to begin our community’s yearlong work to support the 2020 Census.
The Durham City Council is also being asked to approve a similar resolution at its April 15th meeting. Various community partners are now being invited to participate in the Complete Count Committee, and a formal Census Kickoff event is being developed for later this spring.
