The Board is requested to adopt the attached proclamation in honor of Durham County’s Purple Heart recipients. If adopted, the proclamation will be read at the first ever Triangle Purple Heart Dinner on August 17, 2019, during which Purple Heart recipients from across the region will be recognized and celebrated for their military service and sacrifice.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: This request for Board action aligns with Strategic Goal #1: Community Empowerment and Enrichment. The proclamation enriches the community by recognizing and expressing gratitude to Durham County’s Purple Heart recipients and their loved ones for their contributions and sacrifices in defense of the United States.
Resource Persons: Jonathan Crooms, Veteran Services Officer, Durham County Veteran Services.
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board adopt the attached proclamation in honor of Durham County’s Purple Heart recipients.
