The Board is requested to approve a resolution recognizing the extraordinary life and accomplishments of Phil Freelon, an award-winning and nationally-known Architect who made his transition July 9, 2019. He will be remembered for his encouragement, integrity and support which has made a lasting positive impact in Durham County.
Mr. Freelon designed many of our region’s buildings including the Durham County’s Human Services Building, North Carolina Central University Biomanufacturing Research Institute and the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. He was also a lead Architect on the design team for the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture and a long list of other significant cultural, educational and civic projects.
After approval, this resolution will be share at the memorial service.
