The Board is requested to approve an Amendment to the Durham County Public Art Program Manual (see Attachment 1.)
The Durham County Public Art Program, Policy And Program Manual development was reviewed by and received the support of the City of Durham Public Art Program, the Durham Cultural Arts Board, the Durham Public Art Committee, Durham Arts Council, and the North Carolina Arts Council. The BoCC adopted the Resolution Establishing a Public Art Program on September 16, 2019.
The Program Manual is a ‘living document’ with the expectation that periodic amendments will be necessary and presented to the Board for approval as the Program develops and matures over time. This first Amendment adds a section that sets forth the methodology by which proposals for temporary public art installations may be entertained and approved.
Alignment with Strategic Plan: The Amendment to the Durham County Public Art Program Manual aligns with Strategic Goal 5: Accountable, Efficient and Visionary Government.
Resource Persons: : Linda Salguero, AIA, CPD, Project Manager, Peri Manns, ASLA, LEED GA, Interim Director of Engineering and Environmental Services, and Jay Gibson, P.E., General Manager.
County Manager’s Recommendation: The County Manager recommends that the Board approve the Amendment to the Durham County Public Art Program Manual.
