Review and Discussion of Durham County Non-Profit Process Beginning January of 2021 (20min)
Body
Date of BOCC Meeting: September 8, 2020
Request for Board Action:
Agenda Text
The Board is requested review and discuss a summary overview of Durham County Non-Profit process proposal scheduled to begin in January of 2021.
The FY 2020-21 budget development process allocated $753,000 to support the nonprofit funding. Of the amount, $352,000 was allocated for existing nonprofits through December 31, 2020. The remaining amount was a placeholder for an RFP process. Due to current budget constraints resultant from COVID-19, the RFP categories have been scaled down from previous fiscal years to address highest priorities. Further the refinement aligns with a changed approach to allocate dollars more strategically to increase the overall community impact.
The proposed RFP categories include dollars to support Food Security, Children and Youth Enrichment, Workforce Development and Food Security. The RFP is scheduled to begin mid-September with grant applications being awarded early December.
