Agenda Text

The Board is requested to recognize Jess Bousquette as the County’s new Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Resilience Coordinator.

Ms. Bousquette joins Durham County Public Health from the Public School Forum of North Carolina where she served as a Resilience and Learning trainer and coach, supporting schools to develop trauma-informed practices. Her commitment to promoting child health, social justice, and evidence-based policies and programs inspired her to pursue a Master in Public Health (Health Behavior) from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. At Gillings, Ms. Bousquette served on the leadership of Classroom to Community, a student organization committed to providing accurate, age-appropriate, and inclusive puberty and sexual health education to students in Durham and co-lead the Child Maltreatment Research and Practice Network.

Prior to attending Gillings, she served as the Child Protection Policy Advisor at World Vision in Washington, D.C, where she led policy and government relations efforts related to violence against children, child labor, and children affected by armed conflict.  Ms. Bousquette received a BA in International Studies: Political Science from the University of California San Diego.

At Durham County, Ms. Bousquette will coordinate activities of the Durham ACEs and Resilience Taskforce (DART), contribute to the Early Childhood Action Plan, and identify avenues to increase trauma-informed services within Public Health.  Her position is county funded and sits within the Health Education & Community Transformation Division of the Department of Public Health.

Alignment with Strategic Plan: This grant aligns with Strategic Goal 2: Health and Well-being for All.
