DSS is requesting that the Commissioners issue a proclamation recognizing social workers for their dedication to improving human well-being and enhancing the basic needs of all people-especially the most vulnerable and honoring Social Workers as Essential Workers for their contributions during the pandemic, racial unrest, economic uncertainty and political divisiveness. 

 

See attached proclamation.

 

Alignment with Strategic Plan: Each year March is set aside to celebrate and recognize the Social Work Profession. Social Workers since the 19th century have been essential to the community well-being, helping people address personal and systemic barriers to for optimal living. This request aligns with:   Goal 5: Accountable, Efficient, and Visionary Government - supporting a talented & dedicated workforce responsive to customer/client needs and helping to meet performance management expectations of state law/mandates.
